One of the first areas ever acquired by the Butler County Conservation Board is the Shell Rock Recreation Area which is located on the west edge of Shell Rock. Forty acres in size, this area features lake and river fishing, a playground, shelter house, and a replanted prairie. Electrical hookups for up to 40 campers are available along with several tent camping areas.
Location
The Shell Rock Recreation Area is accessed from turning off of State Highway 3 onto 220th Street, then immediately left on Willow Avenue. Willow Avenue will turn into West Main Street and the park will be on the north side of the road.

Shell Rock Park is open 7 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. daily.
