Herman & Hulda Schroeder Preserve

Although most of this 30-acre area is native prairie, it contains one of the few remaining wetland types in Chickasaw County known as a "fen."  Chickasaw County Pheasants Forever provided the funding for acquisition of this area.  Part of the money was placed in a stewardship fund to be used for maintenance of Schroeder Preserve.  The Nature Conservancy provided legal assistance in acquiring this area.  It is open to hunting and is an excellent wildflower study area.

Location

2 miles west, 2 miles north of Fredericksburg along an abandoned railroad right-of-way in Section 34, T95N, R12W.  The entrance is at 2591 250th St.
