Fossil Expedition Adventure to Floyd County
Briggs Woods Park and Golf Course, Hamilton County

We will meet at 10:00 am at the Conservation Office at Briggs Woods Park and car caravan to Floyd County together. We will be on a quest for Devonian Period marine fossils at Fossil & Prairie Park Preserve by Rockford, Iowa. Participants of this program should bring a one gallon bucket for your collected fossils, sun screen, bug spray, sunglasses, hat, and a bottle of water. Rock hammers, garden trowels, and old silverware are allowed but not necessary for gathering fossils.
There is a strict minimum number of 6 people to preregister for this program to take place. To preregister contact John by email at email@example.com or call 515-8329570 and leave a voicemail for our County Naturalist / John Laird. Preregistration is due by Monday June 5th at 3:30 pm.
Bring your own sack lunch to eat.
10:00 am Meet and depart together
11:30 am Sack Lunch at Picnic Shelter at Fossil & Prairie Park in Floyd County (Bring your lunch)
12:00 pm to 2:00 pm Fossil Search & Expedition Together (1 Gal of fossils Max per day per person)
1:00 pm to 4:00 Fossil & Prairie Center Open for visitors
3:00 pm Depart for Hamilton County or Depart on your own as you choose.
4:30 pm Arrive back at Briggs Woods Park
