Skillet Creek Indian Mounds Night Hike

Event Summary

Location: Meet us at the Skillet Creek Indian Mounds parking area by 7:00 pm.

• Listen to sounds of the night and look for animal tracks on the way up to the mounds.
• Enjoy the sights, sounds, and smells of the night as we hike this moderately to difficult hiking path up the hillside. 
• We will discuss the area history and look at the Indian Mounds. 
• You may bring a flashlight but we will place red covers on all lights before we hike up the hillside. 
• This is moderately-difficult hiking path to the Skillet Creek Indian Mounds

Skillet Creek is managed by Webster County Conservation. 

To reach the area:  follow Highway 175 west of Stratford approx. 4 miles. Just after crossing the bridge over the Des Moines River, turn north onto River Road. Turn onto Skillet Creek Rd (left at the Y intersection). Just beyond the first curve will be the parking lot where we’ll be meeting. Bring a flashlight and dress warmly for a more enjoyable winter excursion. This program is free and open to the public, so bring children and friends and join in the fun.
