Cabin 1 is a modern one-bedroom cabin nestled in the trees of Lewis A. Jester Park and located across from Discovery Pond.  This is one of the four modern cabins surrounding the communal fire ring.  Stay, unplug and reconnect with family and friends. We do not provide wifi or television to distract you from the nature which surrounds the cabin allowing you to hike, fish, bird watch, hunt, or just sit and enjoy the scenery surrounding the cabin. Cabin amenities include:  ADA accessible ground level, heating/air conditioning, fireplace, refrigerator, stove/oven, microwave, dining table with six chairs, sofa, one-queen size bed, one bunk bed, one queen-sized futon, game table in basement, large covered deck overlooking woodland, picnic table, fire ring with grill, etc. Walk-out basement area is only accessible via outside private entrance.Two parking spots for cars only allowed per cabin rental. Tents, RVs and trailers are not allowed in cabin area. Limited firewood is provided. If you desire more than has been provided, you may buy additional firewood from campground fee attendant. Pets are not allowed inside cabins and the surrounding cabin area. Cabin Rate: $100/night; 2 night minimum; (weekend rentals require Friday and Saturday night stay; weekday rentals require 2 consecutive week days); Maximum occupancy 6

Location

Jester Park is located at 11407 NW Jester Park Drive, Granger, Iowa 50109.  The cabin area is located next to Shelter #5 and across from Discovery Pond.

Amenities

·      Modern 1-bedroom cabin, heating/air conditioning; 576 feet of living space on ADA accessible main level  (24 ft x  24 ft main level) with furnished basement; basement is not ADA accessible.

·      Sleeps 6; 1 queen bedroom ground level, queen futon and twin bunk bed in basement which has separate private entrance; bedding is provided and one towel per person provided. No change of linens will be provided during your stay. Please plan accordingly. 

·      Fireplace in living room.

·      Modern ADA accessible kitchen with full refrigerator, electric stove/oven, above-range microwave, coffee maker, toaster, dining table with 6 chairs, limited pots, pans and cooking utensils, table service for 6 will be provided. Food, condiments and dish detergent are not provided. Wifi is not available in the cabin area. Open wifi can be found at the Campground Fee Booth and the Jester Park Golf Course Clubhouse.

·      2 modern ¾ bathrooms with shower (ADA accessible bath on main level), toilet tissue, towels provided.  No change of towels will be provided during your stay. Please plan accordingly. Soap, shampoo, and other toiletries are not provided.

·      Large deck with view of woodland, picnic table, small ADA fire ring with grill and limited deck furniture are provided.

·      Large stone communal fire ring in center of the four cabins for use by all who rent cabins, limited firewood provided. Additional firewood is available for purchase at for a small fee at campground fee booth during posted times.  Visitors are encouraged not to transport firewood across county or state lines. ·      Parking limited to 2 vehicles per cabin. RVs, trailers and boats are not allowed in parking. 

RENTER WILL NEED TO BRING:
·         Toiletries. Soap, shampoo, and other toiletries are not provided.
·         Optional items not provided that you may want to bring:  food, dish soap, charcoal for grill; games; folding chairs, extra towels and bedding as needed, personal items, flashlights, etc.
·         Candles are not allowed.

Prior to departure, renter will need to complete CHECK OUT form. CHECK OUT PROCEDURE INCLUDES BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • wash dishes, pots, pans and utensils and put away clean dishes
  • wipe counters, sink, stove, refrigerator
  • sweep floors
  • place used towels on floor of bathroom
  • remove personal items from cabin
  • remove trash from cabin and place in nearby dumpster
  • stack outside chairs against building prior to leaving

Fees

RATES AND RENTAL REQUIREMENTS

·      $100/nt.; 2 consecutive night minimum; (weekend rentals require Friday and Saturday night stay); Maximum stay is 14 nights. AGREEMENT MUST BE ACCEPTED  AT TIME OF BOOKING  which contains renter responsibilities, cancellation procedure, refund restrictions and park conduct information. Renter will be responsible for damages beyond normal wear. 

·      Reservations may be made up to TWO YEARS in advance.

·      Rental must be in the name of a person who is 18 years of age or older who will be present at the facility for the full term of the reservation.

·      If beer or wine is present at the facility, rental must be in the name of a person who is 21 years of age or older who will be present at the facility for the full term of the reservation. NO KEG BEER or LIQUOR allowed.

BEFORE LEAVING THE CABIN RENTER WILL NEED TO:

·     COMPLETE CABIN CHECK OUT WHICH INCLUDES, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, CLEANING CABIN AND SURROUNDING AREA, WASH AND PUT AWAY DISHES

 

 

Hours of Operation & Seasons

Cabins are available for reservations year around. Check-in time is after 4:00 p.m. p.m., check-out by 11:00 a.m. Early arrivals are not allowed.  

Park Hours:

Summer Hours: 6:30 a.m. - 10:30 p.m. (from daylight savings time in the spring until standard time in the fall).

Winter Hours: Sunrise to Sunset (from standard time in the fall until daylight savings time in the spring).

Upon entering park after hours, vehicles may be stopped by ranger requesting their cabin number and name of the party that registered.

Closures

Cabins are available for reservations year around. 

Restrictions

  • Cabins may not be used without an advanced reservation and payment of fees.
  • Youth groups and tents allowed in campgrounds only.
  • Pets prohibited. 
  • Smoking is not allowed inside or on surrounding deck area.
  • Keg beer and liquor are not allowed at cabins.
  • Cabin renters must accept agreement at time of booking. Please read entire agreement PRIOR to booking cabin as it contains important information on renter responsibilities, cancellations, refunds and park conduct.

Permits

  • All Rules & Regulations of the Polk County Conservation Board are in effect. 
  • All laws of the State of Iowa are in effect.   
  • Special Events are not allowed in cabin area. Nearby shelters, amphitheater and lodge are available for rent to accommodate such needs.
