Jester Park Shelter #3 is an open air, accessible shelter that sits in the hub of the park.  Mature oaks and hickories are found at this shelter to shade you from the afternoon sun. A modern restroom and playground structure are within walking distance from this shelter.  Electricity is available at this shelter. Water is  available from mid-April through mid-October.

Jester Park is located at 11407 NW Jester Park Drive, Granger.  You will come to a Y intersection approximately one mile into the park.  At the Y intersection go right.  Shelter #3 will be the first shelter you come to and will be to your right.  Select the map identifying the location of park shelters found under the "Related Items" section below or by clicking on this link: PARK MAPS

  • $60/day
  • Reservations may be made up to TWO YEARS to date in advance.
  • Rental must be in the name of a person who is 18 years of age or older who will be present at the facility for the full term of the reservation.
  • If beer or wine is present at the facility, rental must be in the name of a person who is 21 years of age or older who will be present at the facility for the full term of the reservation.
  • Any renter having keg beer is required to pay a $100 deposit to the Ranger on the day of the event and prior to the beginning of the event.
  • Only one reservation is allowed per day, per shelter.
  • Additional fees may apply with special events.

An organized youth group may reserve Jester Park Shelter #3 at a discounted rate.  Please contact the Conservation Office at (515) 323-5370 for more information or to receive the discount.

Hours of Operation & Seasons

  • Shelter #3 is available for reservations from April 15 through October 15.
  • Reservations may be made up to TWO YEARS to date in advance.
  • One may utilize the shelter from 10:00 AM to 10:30 PM.
  • If the shelter is not reserved for a particular date, it is available on a first-come basis.


Shelter #3 is not available for reservations October 16 through April 14.   Although shelters are not available for reservation from October 16 through April 14, they are available on a first-come, first-serve basis dependent on weather.


  • All Rules & Regulations of the Polk County Conservation Board are in effect.
  • All laws of the State of Iowa are in effect.
  • Any renter having keg beer or an equivalent quantity of beer, wine and/or champagne is required to pay a deposit of $100.
  • Polk County Conservation Board's liability insurance excludes the use of aircraft on park property including hot-air balloons, planes, helicopters, ultra-lights, and parachutes.
  • Special Event Permit Application must be completed for things such as dunk tanks; carnivals; erecting large tents; horse-drawn carriages; generators; power saws; chain saws; power tools of any kind; public address system whether fixed, portable or vehicular-mounted; inflatable bouncers; smoker grills; extra picnic tables; extra parking; or weddings.
  • Special events require a 45 day prior approval.
