Yellow Banks Shelter #1 is a open-air shelter surrounded by mature hardwoods. It is located across from one of our prairies and has a four-acre mowed field adjacent to it, which is a good area for activities such as frisbee or tag football. There is an accessible restroom available across the mowed field.

Yellow Banks Shelter #2 is a open-air shelter surrounded by rolling valleys of hardwood timber and provides an overlook of the Des Moines River Valley. A new accessible restroom was just built at this shelter. It is also walking distance from the playground and baseball diamond.

Yellow Banks Shelter #3
Yellow Banks Shelter #3 is an open-air shelter with an awesome overlook of the Des Moines River Valley. This shelter has the best view of all three shelters. It is within walking distance to the playground and is adjacent to one of our prairies. Bluff Overlook Trail can also be accessed by this shelter.

Yellow Banks Shelter #4
Yellow Banks Shelter #4 is an open-air shelter nestled in between two of the most beautiful baseball diamonds in the area. This is currently the only shelter at Yellow Banks Park that offers electricity and lights. It is located across from one of our prairies and has a four-acre mowed field adjacent to it, which is a good area for activities such as frisbee or tag football. There is an accessible restroom and playground within walking distance.
Shelter #4 is available for reservations after the second weekend of July through October 31.

Yellow Banks, Youth Camping Area
This camping area is for youth groups only. Youth Group Definition: All groups reserving this campsite must be composed of persons 17 years of age and under which is sponsored by and accompanied by adult representatives of a formal organization, including but not limited to Boy and Girl Scouts of America, churches, Young Men and Women’s Christian Association. Chaperoned Organized Youth Group DOES NOT include families of a formal organization. All groups reserving this site are subject to verification from park staff upon arrival.
This is a grass, tent only campsite near the Des Moines River. This site is ideal for the group that would like to experience river life with easy access to the river. Yellow Banks Park provides unique opportunities for hiking along the Loess bluffs overlooking the Des Moines River Valley. This site provides a remote setting for large youth groups looking for an opportunity to camp without the impact of neighbors.
