Join us for the fourth session of the 2017 Summer Field Season of The Naturalist School at Hitchcock Nature Center. The Naturalist School at Hitchcock Nature Center field seasons are for those who seek to deepen awareness of, commitment to, and engagement in citizen science, nature education and conservation in Iowa's Loess Hills and the surrounding ecosystems. These workshops are intended for adults who love nature and are committed to the study, conservation, and preservation of native ecosystems.
Be a part of The Naturalist School at Hitchcock Nature Center. Session #4 will be held Saturday, June 17th from 8:00 a.m. to noon. Occasionally session start times may vary due to weather and phenology. Registered participants will receive communication confirming session start time and meeting location prior to each session.
2017 Summer Field Season Dates:

Summer topics include woodland and savanna ecology, lepidopterans, odonates, pond ecology, breeding frogs and toads, nesting birds, woodland and savanna plants, fungi, bryophytes, lichens, and other taxa and topics. Field season faculty: Neal Ratzlaff, Chad Graeve, Michelle Biodrowski, Jason Andersen, Ted Burk, Robert Smith, Nick Salick, and Jack Phillips.
Tuition: $65 for the field season (5 workshops). Enrollment will be kept small to facilitate outdoor instruction and quiet study. Workshops may be attended individually for $20, if space is available.* Dates are subject to change due to weather. For more information please call 712-545-3283.
Students will want to bring food, water, binoculars, hand lenses, notebooks, and field guides as appropriate to the topic. Please note, The Naturalist School workshops require walking long distances over steep terrain and will take place rain or shine. Workshops may be physically challenging for participants.
