Hitchcock Nature Center Backcountry Camping

Seeking abit more adventure in your camping experience?  Campers who prefer to "rough it" will enjoy the scenic backpack campsites that are located deep in the back country of the preserve.  Three different backpack sites available with registration at the main trailhead.

Backpacking sites are located off of these two trails:

Badger Ridge Trail: Hikers will saunter south along one of the most scenic ridges in the preserve to reach the beautiful camping spot that is located in one of Hitchcock's best prairie remnants.

Westridge Trail: Our most challenging hike, this trial takes hikers to the far reaches of the preserve and concludes with 2 awe inspiring backpacking sites with magnificent views of the MIssouri River Valley.

Back country sites- $5.00 per night per tent.
