Event Summary
The Ringgold County Conservation Board is participating in the Monarch Watch tagging program and needs your help
capturing Monarch Butterflies to tag!
Join RCCB on September 7th at
10:00 AM to 11:00 AM and investigate the life cycle of a Monarch Butterfly,
discover how to identify male and female Monarchs, study Monarch migration and
learn how to tag Monarchs on their journey south to central Mexico.
Attend this FREE public program in Ringgold County to explore the life
of a Monarch Butterfly. RCCB will provide butterfly nets to catch your own
butterfly for this family friendly event!
Meet at the Enclosed Shelter at Fife’s
Grove Park north of Mount Ayr which offers unique prairie walks and butterfly
habitat. Join in on Monarch tagging as well as a prairie scavenger hunt for the
kids, plant identification and touch a bison fur. A great family activity!
Please wear long pants even if it is hot. Tennis shoes/socks, sunscreen,
hats and a water bottle are all recommended.
