Using Weather Radar to Monitor Bird Migration: An update, plus how to predict an Iowa migration "fallout" presented by Karl Jungbluth, retired meteorologist with the National Weather Service.

Did you know that weather radars can detect birds in migration?  By learning to interpret bird signatures on weather radar displays, everyone can increase their enjoyment of migration and increase birdwatching success during the spring and fall migration seasons.   Karl Jungbluth, a retired meteorologist with the National Weather Service, will cover the basics of weather radar interpretation for bird watchers.  In addition, he'll share some weather insights to help you predict when the birds will be migrating over Iowa and when the weather conditions might cause a “fallout”, increasing the number of colorful migrants landing near your backyard.  Karl has 20 years of experience with Iowa weather and birds.
