Winter Hike - South River Valley Park

Get out of the house with other outdoor enthusiasts and explore local public areas this winter. Each hike will begin at 1:30 p.m. and are expected to last no more than two hours. The hikes may vary from good exercise to a social stroll.    All hikes will end with a winter “picnic” of a light array of whatever the hikers bring to share (please bring a snack to share).   All participants should bring a water bottle and dress for the weather. 

South River Valley Park is located off of E 13th Street on the south-west side of the bridge over the South Skunk River.

No registration is necessary.

  • Feb. 1 - Heart of Iowa NatureTrail (meet at the trailhead at Cambridge City Park located at the intersection of Water Street and 3rd Street, Cambridge)
  • Feb. 8 - Sleepy Hollow Access (646 W Riverside Road, Ames – intersection of Highway 69 & Riverside Road)
