Can I shoot Fireworks at the park?

Are fireworks allowed in state and county parks?

You are probably aware that the Iowa legislature passed a new fireworks law, Whoopee! Right?

Slow down a bit. At Otter Creek Lake and Park, as well as all other State and County Parks in the state, fireworks WILL NOT be allowed to be used by the general public.

The only exception is if issued a permit by the County Conservation Board (for parks under their management) or the Iowa DNR (for State Parks). This is typically only for special fireworks displays.

At Otter Creek Lake and Park we will allow what we have in the past. Items such as snakes and hand held sparklers.

So please remember, DO NOT shoot any fireworks in any state or county park. Be safe and have fun in the out-of-doors.
