Rolling Thunder Prairie is a 282 acre wildlife management area
purchased in three tracts. The original 122 acres was purchased in
1981, eighty acres was purchased in 1991 and a second eighty was
purchased in 1992. All three purchases were made with assistance from
the Wildlife Habitat Fund, a very competitive grant program financed by
the Wildlife Habitat Fee, required with the purchase of an Iowa hunting
license.
A rolling area with a wooded creek, that area
consists mainly of grasses and forbs. It is used extensively by a
variety of upland and woodland species. The two hundred acres on the
west side of 80th Avenue have never been plowed and contain high
quality native prairie vegetation.

From Highway 69 head west on G76 for about 5 miles. Turn North on 80th Street. Parking lot is on the West side of the road about a mile north of G76..
