County
Emmet County Conservation
Emmet County Conservation strives to promote its education,
parks and recreation opportunities. Although Emmet is small,
the conservation board and staff strive to have an excellent
park system. The two main campgrounds along with the small
primitive campground and county park areas are open the 2nd
Monday in April through the 2nd Friday in October.
Emmet County Nature Center
Another main emphasis of the Emmet County Conservation
Board is the environmental education program. School programs
and other youth group programs are vital to promoting the
understanding of conservation and environmental issues. The
county conservation board naturalist takes on the education
program, as in many counties, but the director and other staff
willingly help with presentations on various occasions to help
promote understanding and knowledge obtained by students and
adults.
Through classroom presentations, field trips to the county
areas, public programs, special multi-agency programs, and
various other means, Emmet County Conservation educates the
public.
