Job
Description: Assist the Naturalist in carrying out
environmental education programming for the Boone County Conservation
Board. This position is in place to help
provide programs for schools, civic and youth groups, summer camp groups, campground
users, and the general public. Assist in
the creation of educational brochure/handouts, weekly park updates, and
advertisements for programs. This
position may also assist with the writing of articles, press releases,
newsletters, social media updates, and other tasks as directed.
This
job includes practical experience and continuing education during employment.
Location and
Work Hours: Located at the Boone County Conservation Board
office, Don Williams Recreation Area, Ogden, IA. Intern must meet a minimum of 300 hours,
averaging 20 hours per week over a 15 week period. Non-routine work week, some weekend work is required. Internship runs from the second week of May
– end of August or 1st Weekend of September, depending on intern’s
college start date. (The time period and
hours are somewhat flexible).
Qualifications: College applicants should have some course work in biology, ecology, natural sciences, nature interpretation, environmental education, or elementary education. Applicant should have the ability to work with people of all ages, communicate effectively both orally and in writing, and display a high level of confidence and self-motivation. Current certification in first aid and CPR preferred, but not required. Applicant must also possess a current, valid driver’s license and have the ability to get to and from the work site. Note: Applicant will be required to undergo a background check.
Wage: Volunteer with potential for stipend up to
$2,000 at completion of the internship.

Qualifications
Applicant must be at least 18 years of age. Preference will be given to students pursuing a degree in natural resources. Applicant should have the ability to work with people of all ages and posses a valid driver's license.
