Cedar River Access

The Cedar River is named after the juniper trees growing there (mistakenly called "cedar" by early settlers).   The area surrounding the Cedar River is known as the Cedar River Valley but more commonly known as the Cedar Valley.  The headwaters of the Cedar River are located in Dodge County, Minnesota.  The Cedar River ends in Louisa County at the town of Columbus Junction.  There the river joins with the Iowa River as it winds toward the Mississippi.  The total length of the Cedar River is approximately 300 miles.

Cedar River Access consist of 26 acres of flood plain forest suited for white tail deer and turkey.  The Cedar River Access provides access to the Cedar River and a spacious parking facility.  Within the park, outdoor enthusiast of all types should find what they are looking for.  The habitat within the park provides opportunities to hunt, fish, hike and go bird watching.  The species one might encounter range from migrating waterfowl to songbirds and raptors.  Hunters can expect to see white tailed deer as well as wild turkeys.
