Chickasaw Park




This area is near the townsite of Old Chickasaw.  16 acres of this area were acquired in 1957 by a 50-year lease from the Iowa Conservation Commission.  In 1974, another 16 acres were purchased from Martin Marietta, former owner of the quarry area.                         

Location

Located 2.5 miles west of Ionia on Highway B57.  Section 21, T95N, R14W.  This park lies on both sides of the Little Cedar River.

Features

Access to the Little Cedar River for fishermen and canoers.  Fishing is allowed in the abandoned quarry area.  Picnicking, primitive camping, shelters, and pit toilets are provided. 

The west side of Chickasaw Park is the location of the Ionia Fire Department's Annual Fish Fry, attracting approximately 1500 people each year. 

Operating Hours & Seasons

Open year round - 6:00 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. for noncampers.
