Oak Lane Cemetery


a.k.a. Rustad Cemetery, a.k.a. Old Thompson Cemetery  established by the Norwegian Evangelical Lutheran Church in 1874. The first burial was Ole H. Olson born in 1874, died August 1875. This abandoned cemetery has been preserved by the Mitchell County Conservation Board to preserve both the native prairie species present on site and to honor the memory of the pioneers buried there.

2 1/2 miles east of Otranto on 480th St.

Features

Historic Site. Earliest known birth 1802. The last burials recorded were Eline Samulsen who was born December 12, 1818 and died December 11, 1907 and Hans Samulsen who was born  April 9, 1821 and died November 9th 1907.
