Camping

Do you need a reservation for camping?

No. Camping spots are first come, first serve at all O'Brien County campgrounds except Tjossem Park.

Can I reserve a campsite at Douma Park?

All campsites at Our O’Brien County Parks are first come, first serve.  You may stake a tent and pay for the site prior to your arrival.  The tent does not have to be set up, but it must be a tent – no exceptions.

Can I bring my pet camping?

Your pet is allowed to camp at our O’Brien County Parks.  It must be leashed or kenneled at all times and you must clean up after it.  If there are any complaints, you will be asked to remove the pet from the park.

Can I reserve a camping space online

Only at Tjossem Park are you able to reserve a camping space and also reserve a space ahead of time. Long term camping needs can call the Conservation Office to make arrangements. 712-295-7200

Can I reserve a camp site at the O'Brien County Conservation Board's Parks?

All O'Brien County Conservation Board's camping sites are first come, first serve at Mill Creek, Dog Creek and Douma Parks. Tjossem Park is the only reservable park.

How do I reserve the cabins at Mill Creek Park?

Contact the O'Brien County Conservation Office at 712-295-7200. Office hours are Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm. Reservations can be made up to one year in advance.

When Can I Visit The Prairie Heritage Center

The Prairie Heritage Center is open Tuesday through Friday from 9:00 A.M. to 4 P.M. and Saturday and Sundays(summer only) from 1:00 P.M. to 4 P.M.

How do I reserve the Lodge at Mill Creek Park, near Paullina, Iowa?

Contact the O'Brien County Conservation Board's office at (712) 295-7200 or visit our office located at 4931 Yellow Ave., Peterson, Iowa 51047. Reservations can be made Monday through Friday from 8 A.M. to 4:30 P.M (Closed Official Holidays).

No reservations will be accepted after business hours or on weekends.

Reservations can be made as soon as 365 days in advance of your event.
