Talmage Hill Wildlife Area




This 210-acre area on the north side of Highway 34, 2 miles west of Thayer, is one of the County's most beautiful natural areas. It abounds with habitat diversity, from the pond, marsh and timbered areas to the upland game areas. It is used extensively by wildlife enthusiasts as well as for an outdoor classroom for environmental education.

Talmage Hill Wildlife Area is located 2 miles west of Thayer, IA and 5 miles east of Afton, IA

Features

210 acres of hunting ground for everything from waterfowl, white-tailed deer and turkeys to small game such as rabbits and squirrels.
5 acre pond filled with bass, crappie, bluegill, and channel catfish.

Operating Hours & Seasons

The area is open year around.
