Van Buren County Conservation is located in southeast Iowa where the people are friendly and the area is slow, relaxing pace to enjoy with family or friends. Lake Sugema campgrounds overlook the 574 acre lake for fishing Bluegill, Crappie, Walleye, Catfish and Large Mouth Bass. Go to the secluded campgrounds in Morris Park and hike the trails or explore the historic buildings such as the schoolhouse or barn filled with items from the past century. If river fishing or visiting historic museums, quaint shops or exploring the river trails by kayak or hiking, then the Bentonsport Campgrounds would be ideal. The Conservation in a rare move, restored several historic buildings which now houses antique and artisan items

Campgrounds that take reservations are Lake Sugema, Bentonsport and Morris Park Campgrounds.
Lake Sugema Campgrounds is next to Lake Sugema with 575 acres for fishing or kayaking. Reservable, paved sites with 20, 30, and 50 amps consisting of full hookup- sites 2-12 and modern- sites 13-22. 7 gravel sites 23-29 that have new 20, 30, 50 amps and are on first come basis.
If you love history and shopping, Bentonsport Campgrounds are next to the Bentonsport Historic District with working artisans, shops and Indian Artifact museum. The sites are graveled, and shady spots and along the river. Shower house, 30/50 amps, water hydrants located throughout campgrounds
To really get away from others, go to Morris Park Campgrounds. Shady, graveled sites, shower house, 30/50 amps, water hydrants located throughout campgrounds and dump station. The campground is next to several historic buildings, fishing pond and hiking trails.
Austin Park Campgrounds have primitive sites, non reservable. Graveled sites and fire rings. Located along the Des Moines River, it is a popular site to launch kayaks.
Douds Riverside Park. 2 campsites, non reservable. Gravel with 30 and 50amps. Shelter and boat ramp.
