Hartman Reserve Nature Center naturalists offer a Road Trip Spring Break Camp every year as a way for kids to get out of the house and see some of the coolest, lesser known destinations in Iowa. We provide all transportation and admission fees for all the locations we travel to. Each day we go to different, unique locations! We offer a mix of education, adventure and exploration! Sign up for individual days or you can sign up for the entire week to receive a discount! If you are interested in signing up for the entire week, please call or stop by the Nature Center to process your child's registration. At this time, we are unable to do this online. The cost for per day is $40/child. The cost for the entire week is $175/child. If your child has a key card, please call the Nature Center for details. This camp is for kids ages 10-14.

STEM Day!

We're headed to the Science Center of Iowa in Des Moines! Kids will get to not only go through the Science Center, but we've also scheduled 2 special programs to our visit!

Global Soundscapes: Explore the emerging field of sound ecology in this interactive planetarium program. Embark on a mission to investigate the dramatic sounds of Costa Rica's rainforests, Hawaii's coral reefs and Mongolia's vast grasslands. Learn about the tools that scientists use to record and analyze sounds. Explore basic acoustics through interactive activities and incredible slow-motion footage. Discover what soundscapes tell us about the health of our planet.

Black Holes: The Other Side of Infinity: Experience one of the most mysterious — and misunderstood — wonders of the Universe. Narrated by Liam Neeson. Sponsored by NASA.

What to Bring:

Lunch
Refillable water bottle
Closed-toed shoes
Dress for the weather (jacket, sweatshirt, winter coat, etc)
Closed-toed shoes that can get dirty (or boots!)
Activity for the car
Bag to put their stuff in
Optional: snacks, money for gift shops

*Refund Policy: Refunds will only be given in the case of a documented medical emergency or funeral for programs more than $10. If program cost is under $10, a program voucher will be offered for a future program. If a program is cancelled due to weather or other unforeseen reasons, then a similar program will be offered in its place.
