The Middle Raccoon River is designated as a protected water area and is part of the Water Trail program. This section of the river is popular for its numerous recreational opportunities such as canoeing, kayaking, fishing, and hiking. Local birdwatchers know the area well for the frequent viewings of bald eagles.

Location

Near Redfield Dam on the west edge of Redfield, Iowa
• From Old Highway 6, take 1st Street north to the four-way stop with Thomas Street
• Turn west on Thomas Street and proceed to the river.
• Bridge Street crosses the river.
• The boat ramp and parking is immediately to the north.
