Big Hollow Hickory Shelter House / Group Campsite

Hickory Shelter House is the larger of the two available shelters at Big Hollow's East Picnic Area. It is semi-enclosed and able to comfortably fit 8-10 picnic tables on the inside. It is north of the parking lot and centered in the Group Camping Area.

The Group Camping Area is available to scout groups and other organizations for reservation free of charge. Family groups / reunions that wish spend the night in the group area can set up two tents free of charge with shelter reservation. Any additional tents must self-register at the pay station for $10 / per tent. The Group Camping Area can be reserved by reserving the Hickory Shelter House.

Turn left at the stop sign and follow the road to the group camp area. The Hickory Shelter / group campsite is on the North side of the road.

$25 / day. Scout groups: Call the office prior to booking at (319) 753-8260.

6:00 am – 10:30 pm

For shelter house and group camp spot:
Camping Check-In:
After 11 am on your arrival day
Camping Check-Out: Before 11 am on your departure day
