Nations Bridge Park offers a variety of ​recreational opportunities to the public and is a favorite spot for many activities.  The park has two shelter houses, the tower house and the lower house, available for rent for family gatherings, receptions, group outings, or other events.  The park also offers camping, picnicking, kayaking, hiking, bird watching fishing, disc golf, and horse shoes for visitors. Nature trails can be found throughout the park and a self-guided nature trail is located on the east side of the park.

The Tower Shelter, located at the high point of the park, is on the south end of the park.  This shelter features a spiral staircase leading to a lookout tower and offers a stunning view of the treeline in the park.  

The Lower Shelter is located in the center of the park by the playground equipment and horseshoe pits.  The shelter is also located near modern restroom facilities.

$15.00 Per Day

Hours of Operation & Seasons

Making a Reservation:

  • Reservation fee is $15.00 per day.   
  • Please call at least 3 days in advance to make your reservation and to make sure the shelter house is available.
  • Call the Park Ranger's Office to make your reservation:  515.523.1789.
  • Reservation is good all day until 10:30 p.m. when park closes.
  • Please leave shelter house as it was found.  Remove all trash and take with you or place in designated trash receptacles.  

Additional GCCB Park Rules

  • Parks open at 6:00 a.m.
  • Parks close at 10:30 p.m. for non-campers.
  • Park in designated areas.
  • Fires, Wastes - use containers provided.
  • Keep pets on leash.
  • Do not pick any wildflowers.
  • All State and Federal Laws apply to county areas.
  • Speed limit is 15 m.p.h.
  • Hunting in designated areas only.
  • Keg Beer—Permit required.

Closures

All GCCB shelter houses close at 10:30 pm.
