Located on the eastern side of Jefferson County, Gantz-Hewett showcases mature hickory trees in addition to Red and White Oak trees. The area is used for public hunting including deer, turkey, squirrels, and upland game birds.

The area was acquired in 2002 by a land donation from Gilbert and John Hewett, former residents of Jefferson County. Twenty acres of this 30 acre area is made up of huge mature hickory and red and white oak trees. The remaining 10 acres is reestablished prairie. A pioneer cemetery is located adjacent to the property.
