Red Oak Cabin is a popular getaway for nature enthusiasts and hunters alike. The rustic cabin is located on a bluff with a spectacular view of the Wapsipinicon River valley. The cabin is located approximately half a mile from the parking area and is accessible by foot only. The opportunity to "get away from it all" and the primitive amenities make Red Oak a popular destination.


Located in the Matsell Bridge County Park between Central City and Anamosa, Iowa.  


Wood stove for heating and cooking.
Hike in only - users must carry in their own supplies and gear. Reasonable accommodations will be made for persons with disabilities.
6 picnic tables located near the cabin.
Large covered porch.
Pedestal stove/cooking grill outside.
Fire ring for outdoor fire.
Large bundle of firewood provided with the reservation. Additional wood available for purchase.
Pit vault restroom outside.
Two single over full bunk beds provided.


Open year round, reservations taken up to 2 years in advance.
One night reservations taken Monday through Thursday.
Two night reservations required for Weekend stays.
Three night reservations required for Holiday weekends.


Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, New Years Eve and New Years Day.


$60 per night.
