 GRANT WOOD TRAIL UPDATE:

Enhancements to the Grant Wood trail are underway.  The trail surface and drainage ditches will all be reconstructed throughout this 3.25 mile segment.   The stretch from Hwy 13 to Waldo’s Rock Park will be paved with concrete providing a connection to the park.  The remaining segment easterly to Oxley Road will have a limestone granular surface and a wider turf shoulder along the north side.

Construction of this area is scheduled to begin August 13 with project completion anticipated for next Spring.

This area will experience intermittent and significant closures over the next several months.  We will continue to provide updates here at www.linncountyparks.com

The Grant Wood Trail will be closed from February 5 for approximately three weeks from Highway 13 to Oxley Road due to brush and tree clearing along the trail.  This action is taking place in preparation for trail construction later this year.  Linn County Conservation will bid the trail construction project this spring with work expected to begin in August.  The Trail will be hard surfaced from the Highway 13 underpass to Waldo's Rock Park in Marion, which is approximately 1/2 mile.  The remainder of the trail, nearly 3 miles, will be graded with a compacted gravel/limestone screening surface with an adjacent grass trail to Oxley Road.  Estimated cost for this project phase is $950,000.  This segment has been identified by the Linn County Conservation Board for future hard surfacing.  Keep checking back for further updates.
