Be a Naturalist Day Camp: Iowa Mammals and Wildlife Rehabilitation

If someone in your family is sick, you go to a Dr.  If your pet is sick, you take them to a vet.  However, what happens to wildlife when they are injured or sick.  Who takes care of them? At this day camp, you will be able to meet two wildlife rehabilitators and learn about their jobs.  You can also meet two non-releasable animals who used to educate Iowans about wildlife. Come meet Vesta, a non-releasable red fox from Linn County Wildlife Rehabilitation.  Learn how a rehabilitator saved her after a terrible injury and about her current role as an ambassador for others of her kind. Participants will also be able to meet a rehabilitated bat from the Iowa Wildlife Center in Ames. This bat is also non-releasable is now an educational animal used to teach people about this miss-understood mammal. Be a Naturalist Day Camp runs from 9am to 2pm on Wednesday, July 18 and is for youth ages 8-12.  The day camp fee is $20 per child.  (or $70 if you register for all four days).

Children must come prepared to explore the outdoors and must provide their own lunch. To register for this day camp, please contact Wickiup Hill Learning Center at 319-892-6485.
