New moutain lion exhibit at GrimesFarm and Conservation Center

Posted:9/8/2014 Marshall

New to the scene this fall is a mountain lion that will be permanently displayed at the Grimes Farm and Conservation Center. The display consists of a mounted mountain lion inside the building near the main entrance. The specimen was a captive animal that died and was offered to the MCCB for educational purposes. Since mountain lions have been documented at various locations across Iowa recently, including Marshall County, this is an opportunity for people to get a close up view of the size and overall appearance of these animals. Many times people get just a glimpse of an animal and sometimes are not able to identify them correctly. Hopefully this display will aid people when they cross paths with different species.  An informational brochure about the animals and their presence in Iowa will be available near the display.
