For Iowa residents the first weekend in June marks the Iowa DNR Free Fishing weekend. To encourage the love for outdoors the DNR invites Iowa residents fish without the need of a license, but all other laws are to be followed. This event makes fishing something everyone can do and enjoy. To celebrate this join park naturalists at River's Bend Wildlife Area, just south of Akron, for a family friendly fishing event. Some fishing gear will be available for use, please give us a call to let us know you will be in need of the gear and how many you expect to have joining you. If fishing is something that's a new skill for you join us in learning the best ways to bait, cast and reel in a big one worthy of an exaggerated tale!
