Jester, Lewis A., Park, Polk County

Tuesday, November 13, 2018

Did you meet Carrie, the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden’s corpse flower? Although recognized for the plant’s unappetizing smell, Carrie is also an important plant for conservation reasons. Join Sydney Algreen-Hunter, Assistant Director of Education, to learn about the corpse flower and other plants of conservation importance in collection at the Botanical Garden. Sydney will also share other efforts that the GDMBG has done to learn, conserve, and protect important plants in Iowa and across the world.

Looking for an excuse to get out of the house, make some new friends, enjoy a good meal and learn about the exciting world of nature? Then join us! These programs are held the first Tuesday of each month. The nature program will start at 11:00 a.m. at the Jester Park Lodge. An optional luncheon follows the program at noon in which pre-registration is required. Luncheon registration deadline - November 9. The cost of the catered lunch by The Radish is $10.
