and learn about the exciting world of nature? Then join us! These programs are
held the first Tuesday of each month. The nature program will start at 11:00
a.m. at the Jester Park Lodge. An optional luncheon follows the program at noon
in which pre-registration is required. Luncheon (pan fried chicken, mashed potatoes, vegetable, salad, bread, and dessert) registration deadline
is January 4. The cost of the catered lunch by The Radish is $10.
Everyone
know that Iowa is "good soil" for growing agricultural crops and
gardening. Over the decades, our state also has proven to be a great incubator
for nurturing talented individuals who became famous nationally and sometimes,
internationally. Join retired Midwest Living editor-in-chief and IPTV travel
program host Dan Kaercher for a special version of his "Iowa's Hidden
Treasures" program that delves not only into why Iowa is such a special
state to call home overall, but also explores some wonderful Iowa getaways:
parks, historic attractions, big cities, quaint small towns, and tempting
eateries. Then we'll focus specifically on some famous Iowa sons and daughters
were born, educated and achieved fame right here, or went on to earn
recognition elsewhere, or came here to make their mark. Wild Bill Cody and
Wyatt Earp of the Old West...singers and musicians like Andy Williams, the
Everly Brothers and Glen Miller...film stars Donna Reed and John Wayne...Grant
Wood and Mauricio Lasansky in the art world...composer Meredith Willson...and
White House figures Herbert Hoover and Mamie Eisenhower. The list is long, and
it will make you even prouder that you are now to be an Iowan! PS Dan will also
share attractions around the state you can visit that recall these great
Iowans.
