OWLS (Older Wiser Livelier Seniors) - Ice Age Iowa - Cancelled

Jester Park, Polk County

Tuesday, August 4, 2020

People began moving into Iowa over 13,000 years ago at the end of the last “ice age”. This was a time of giant land mammals, ice, and extreme cold temperatures. Learn about what Iowa was like during this period and how people adapted to the conditions. Cherie Haury-Artz Education Assistant with the Office of the State Archaeologist will share a display of a sample of real and replica artifacts from relevant time periods.   Looking for an excuse to get out of the house, make some new friends, enjoy a good meal and learn about the exciting world of nature? Then join us! These programs are held the first Tuesday of each month. An optional luncheon, oven baked chicken, sun dried tomato pesto pasta, vegetable, tossed salad, bread, and dessert, follows the program at noon in which pre-registration is required.
