Night Out With the Nightjars

Join us at Hitchcock Nature Center on Thursday, May 24th at 7:00 p.m. for a guided night hike as we explore Hitchcock Nature Center and the Loess Hills in the dark in search of nightjars.

Pheasants Forever biologist & experienced birder Nik Salick will be introducing attendees to the nightjar, a family of nocturnal, ground nesting birds with distinct habits & calls. After a short introduction on these fascinating birds attendees will take to the trails on a guided hike to listen for these birds in the wilds of Hitchcock Nature Center. 

This program is being presented as part of our adult education program and we ask that participants be 15 years of age & older. Cost is $10.00 per person & includes park admission. Pre-registration is requested as space is limited. Register in advance online. Call 712-545-3283 for more information, registration will not be taken over the phone.

Please dress for the weather and wear appropriate footwear as much of this event will take place outside.Please note this program may include pedestrian travel over uneven surfaces.

While this event is adult friendly it is not pet friendly, please leave your canine friends at home. Service animals are always welcome. 

Please meet at the Loess Hills Lodge, weather permitting.
