McIntosh Cemetery Guided Hike

Enjoy a special evening hike on Friday, May 24th at 6:00 as we visit the McIntosh Pioneer Cemetery. This section of the park is off limits without a staff member & is a truly unique place to visit. Enjoy an evening hike through the Loess Hills & explore this historic cemetery. Learn more about its history, burial practices before modern machinery, & the unique plants that make their home here. This program will be held entirely outdoors & is open to participants of all ages.

This is a 3 mile round trip hike that does involve pedestrian travel over rugged & uneven terrain, strollers & other wheeled vehicles are not permitted. Please dress for the weather & wear appropriate footwear. Binoculars, water bottles & insect repellent are also recommended.  

This event is free with paid park admission, pre-registration is required for this event as space is limited. Please use the link below to register online in minutes. For questions not answered online please call 712-545-3283, reservations will not be taken over the phone.

Attendees must purchase a $3.00 per vehicle daily entrance pass or have a current Pottawattamie Conservation Foundation membership to attend this program. Daily entrance passes may be purchased with exact change or check at the front gate & may be purchased the day of the event. PCF memberships start at $20.00 per year & may be purchased from staff at any of our parks, at the front gate, at the Loess Hills Lodge at Hitchcock Nature Center during regular business hours, or at www.pottawattamieconservationfoundation.com in advance. There is no additional fee to attend this program, free will donations are encouraged & will support continued free & low cost programming opportunities in Pottawattamie County. 

This event is not pet friendly; please leave your dogs at home. Service animals are always welcome. Weather Permitting.
