Family Campout

First time tent campers are invited to join us for a guided overnight campout at Hitchcock Nature Center in our picturesque group tent campsite. This program is designed for families with children who have little to no experience with tent camping & are interested in learning more about this great family activity.  We provide expert guidance along with tents & food.  All you need is a sleeping bag & a sense of adventure!

Arrival is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on September 7th. Our Naturalists will be on hand to guide you to our special group campsite & help you set up your camp as they help you discover the world of camping. After a peaceful night in the park we will be up early for some breakfast and will break camp by 10:00 a.m. on September 8th. 

Cost is $50.00 per family & includes all camping fees, admission to the park, a tent, dinner & breakfast. Families are asked to pack appropriate clothing & bring their own bedding. 

Pre-registration is required for this event as space is limited. No walk in participants will be admitted to this event due to equipment needs. Please email rene.stroud@pottcounty-ia.gov to register your family for this event. Please note, due to equipment needs space is very limited & no walk in participants will be admitted. 

CANCELLATION POLICY
Guests may cancel their reservation for a full refund up to 1 week (7 days) prior to program date by calling 712-545-3283 ext. 1197 & speaking with staff directly.  Cancellations made less than 1 week (7 days) in advance of the program will not be refunded. Program fees for events cancelled by PCC due to weather or other reasons will be refunded. This all ages event is family friendly but not pet friendly, please leave your canine friends at home. Service animals are always welcome. Weather Permitting.
