Night Out With Nightjars

Join experienced birdwatcher and biologist Nic Salick for a special evening hike on Friday, June 5th at 8:00 p.m. Join us at Hitchcock Nature Center for a presentation on the nocturnal bird, the nightjar. Learn more about their unique habits & recognizable call then hit the trails on a guided night hike to listen for them in the Loess Hills.

This event will be held entirely outdoors & will include a presentation & guided night hike. Participants must be age 12 & over. Please dress for the weather & wear appropriate footwear as this event will involve pedestrian travel over uneven terrain.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic this program will be adjusted in the following ways:

  • Registration is limited to 8 participants only, pre-registration is required
  • Participants will be required to maintain proper distancing of a minimum of 6' between themselves & other participants at all times
  • Masks will be worn by staff during the presentation & when interacting with guests
  • Masks are recommended for use by participants

Cost is $10.00 per person & includes park admission. Pre-registration is required for this event, pre-registration will close at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 4th. For questions not answered online please call 712-545-3283, reservations will not be taken over the phone.

CANCELLATION POLICY
Guests may cancel their reservation for a full refund up to 1 week (7 days) prior to the program date by calling 712-545-3283 & speaking with staff directly. Cancellations received less than 1 week (7 days) before the program will not be refunded. Program fees for events cancelled by PCC due to weather or other circumstances will be refunded.

This event is not pet friendly; please leave your dogs at home. Service animals are always welcome. Weather Permitting.
