Building Better Birders: Sunrise Birding Hike

Join us at Hitchcock Nature Center on Sunday, May 9th at 6:00 a.m. for Building Better Birders: Sunrise Guided Birding Hike & learn more about the early morning songbirds that call the Loess Hills home. This workshop will be conducted by Kelly McKay (BioEco Research and Monitoring Center), with assistance from Mark Roberts (Clinton County Conservation) and Brian Ritter (Nahant Marsh Education Center) & is being presented as part of the Building Better Birders programming series.  

This program is open to all ages but is geared toward participants age 12 & over. There is no cost to attend this workshop. Pre-registration is required as space is limited.  

This is the first of five Building Better Birders workshops scheduled for Sunday, May 9th at Hitchcock Nature Center.  

Attendees may register for all programs or may select the ones that most interest them. Click the links above for more information on each workshop.  

Building Better Birders is a programming series designed to improve the bird identification skills of local citizens & promote a greater interest in citizen science programming. Workshops are presented free of charge & supported by the Resource Enhancement and Protection - Conservation Education Program (REAP-CEP).  

*In the event of cancellation due to inclement weather participants will be notified via the email address provided during registration. 

Due to COVID-19 the format of this program has been adjusted. 

  • 6-foot distance will be maintained between individuals/family groups
  • Masks required while inside and recommended when distancing is impossible outside
  • Staff will wear masks when 6-foot distance is not possible or indoors
  • Maximum registration has been reduced
  • Participants must sign a participation waiver upon arrival

This event is not pet friendly, service animals are always welcome. Please meet at the Loess Hills Lodge. Weather Permitting.
