Greeting Spring Guided Wildflower Walk
Hitchcock Nature Center, Pottawattamie County
Saturday, April 17, 2021
Enjoy a special afternoon hike on Saturday, April 17th at 2:00 pm, at Hitchcock Nature Center, as we
take in the early signs of spring in the Loess Hills.
Join Glenn Pollock, accomplished native plant authority,
board member and restoration leader of the Loess Hills Preservation Society,
and Vincent Bluffs preserve manager, on a guided hike to greet the first blooms
of Spring. This relaxed hike will take a slow pace as we scan the landscape of
scenic Moonseed Trail for early blooming native flowers, grasses & sedges.
These flowers do not last long, so make sure you don’t miss this wonderful
opportunity to learn to identify them and learn about their life history.
This program will be held entirely outdoors & is open
to participants of all ages.
Please meet at the playground parking lot
immediately inside the main park gates.
While this hike will be a very
leisurely one it will involve pedestrian travel over uneven terrain, strollers
