The Naturalist School Pre-Session Workshop: Loess Hills Ecology

Join us for the pre-session workshop, Loess Hills Ecology. This rugged hike and field study with Jack Phillips is designed as an introduction to the 2017 spring field season of the Naturalist School at Hitchcock Nature Center.This introductory hike will explore the distinct ecology and biodiversity of the Loess Hills.

Please meet at Hitchcock Nature Center on Saturday, March 25th. This workshop will be from 9:00 a.m. to noon and will be conducted mainly outdoors at the park. There is no fee for this introductory workshop but pre-registration is required as space is limited. Please register online or call 712-545-3283 for more information.

Students will want to bring food, water, binoculars, hand lenses, notebooks, and field guides as appropriate to the topic. Please note, The Naturalist School workshops require walking long distances over steep terrain and will take place rain or shine. Workshops may be physically challenging for participants.

The Naturalist School at Hitchcock Nature Center field sessions are for those who seek to deepen awareness of, commitment to, and engagement in citizen science, nature education and conservation in Iowa's Loess Hills and the surrounding ecosystems.These workshops are intended for adults (college-age and above) who love nature and are committed to the study, conservation, and preservation of native ecosystems.
