The sixth annual Wild Women of the Woods event will take place September 14 - 15 at McFarland Park.
Wild Women of the Woods is designed to give women the opportunity to explore the outdoors, learn or improve skills, and network with women with similar interests. Participants can opt to camp out and will choose from many different sessions (tentatively) including: Kayaking, Paddle Boarding, Orienteering, Survival Shelters, Natural Products, Gun Shooting, Natural Remedies (Fire Cider), Creek Hikes, Outdoor Preparedness, Nature Mandalas,Trail Foods, Fire Ink Art, Yoga, Mindful Meditation, Fermenting Foods, Mountain Biking, Owl Pellets, and much,much more!
Some things to
be particularly aware of:
- This
year’s location is McFarland Park (56461 180th Street, Ames, IA) due
to watershed improvements planned at Hickory Grove Park.
- Please remember this event is only for females 18 years of age or
older (strictly enforced).
- Registrations must be received by August 27, 2018 (no refunds for
cancellations after this date).
- The
Intro to Paddle Boarding is a one part session being offered twice to give more
people the opportunity to participate in this popular session.
- Intro
to Firearms and Basic Shooting is being offered twice, either in the
morning (B/H) or afternoon (N/U) - taking part one in the morning and part two
in the afternoon is not an option.
- If
you need to borrow a tent in order to camp Friday night, please let us know.
