Wild Women of the Woods

Wild Women of the Woods is designed to give women the opportunity to explore the outdoors, learn or improve skills, and network with women of similar interests. Participants can opt to camp out and will choose from many different sessions including: Kayaking, Paddle Boarding, Gun Shooting, Fishing, Kombucha, Fungus Foraging, Belly Dance, Self-Defense, Dutch Oven Cooking, Letterboxing, Healing Massage Techniques, Pond Exploration, Hiking, and much, much more!

Important details to be particularly aware of:

  • The location is McFarland Park (56461 180th Street, Ames, IA).
  • Please remember this event is for any woman 18 or older - mothers, daughters, sisters, friends, or solo.
  • Registrations must be received by August 26, 2019 (no refunds for cancellations after this date).
  • The Introduction to Paddle Boarding is a one part session being offered twice to give more people the opportunity to participate in this popular session.
  • Introduction to Firearms and Basic Shooting is being offered twice, either in the morning  (B/H or afternoon (N/U) - taking part one in the morning and part two in the afternoon is not an option. Kayaking is a two part class, part one in the morning and part two in the afternoon (A/G). Introduction to Everything Fishing is a two part class, part one in the morning and part two in the afternoon (C/I). Wild Game Cleaning and Cooking is a two part class, with both parts in the afternoon (O/V). Explore the Wild with Letterboxing is a two part class, with both parts in the afternoon (P/W).
  • If you need to borrow a tent in order to camp Friday night, please let us know.
