With the winter deer hunting season coming to a close, \nwhat better time to celebrate our game animal diversity than at the 5th annual Deer & Turkey Expo! This year, the Mitchell County Deer & Turkey \nExpo will take place on Saturday,March 9th, with doors opening \nat 9:00. If you bagged a big buck or bird this past hunting year, found an \nawesome set of sheds, or scored a sweet trail-cam photo, we want to see them! \nIf you have an animal or photo you’d like to show off, \njust bring them to the Milton R. Owen Nature Center before 2:30 to get scored. \nAnimals, sheds, and photos do NOT have to be from the past year or from \nMitchell County. We do ask that animals from the 2018 hunting season be cleaned \nand dried at least 60 days to be scored. We have several great local certified \nscorers that donate their time and talents to this event, and will score your \nanimal or shed(s) for free! To get your chance at some great prizes from \nCabela’s, enter our friendly contests for a $5 donation. We have categories of: \nBiggest Buck, Tom, shed, and matched shed, as well as People’s Choice for both \nanimals and Trail Camera photos. Trail Camera photos can be emailed to chelsea@osage.net, \nor brought in the day of the Expo. Prizes will awarded at 4:00. \nEven if you don’t have an animal to get scored, come \nout to cure some cabin fever and enjoy samples from local lockers, place your \n“People’s Choice” vote, enter our raffle to win prizes, or join the archery shoot \ncompetition for your chance to win a bow, and much more! We are also planning a Turkey Calling contest and kids Shed hunt!
\nWhether you’re a hunter, or \nan avid wildlife watcher, it’s a great way to get an idea for what kind of \ngenetics are out there and what other kinds of wildlife you might see in the \nfield.
\nDonations from this event go to the Mitchell County Environmental Education \nFoundation to support educational programs, events, and displays in Mitchell \nCounty. \nIt’s a great day to celebrate all things outdoors at \nthe Mitchell County Deer & Turkey Expo, so mark your calendars for March 9th, 2019!
