We will discuss some area history covering the area\nglaciation , prehistoric woodland culture, expiration by the French Dragoons,\nEuropean settlement of Iowa in the 1800s, gristmills and saw mills on the Boone\nand Des Moines Rivers, pioneer school houses of rural Iowa, Spirt Lake Indian uprising\nand Massacre, and the building of the original Fort Dodge. This program is for\npeople who are interested in our local history that centers on the river\nvalleys and crosses over into both counties.
