\n<p>Linn County
\nConservation have collected nuts and acorns as part of a program to help
\nrestore a forest forever changed by derecho. Volunteers are now encouraged to
\nhelp plant these nuts and acorns at Wanatee Park.
\n&nbsp;
\n</p>
\n<p>
\nThe planting event will take place in a 15-acre area where debris from the derecho has
\nbeen removed and some seedling trees have now been planted. The trees will be
\nsupplemented by planting native tree nuts.
\n&nbsp;
\n</p>
\n<p>
\nParticipants
\nwill receive a canvas bag to keep (while supplies last) with nuts to plant. The
\nprocess will be as simple as poking a hole in the ground with a stick, dropping
\nin a nut, and stepping on it. Planting sticks will be available, or
\nvolunteers can bring their own: as simple as a pointed stick or a broom
\nhandle.&nbsp;
\n&nbsp;

\n<p>
\nPrior
\nto nut planting, an introduction to the park and brief overview of forest
\nrestoration plans will be given along with simple planting instructions.
\n&nbsp;
\n</p>
\n<p>
\nTerrain could
\nbe rough with some small tree debris still on the ground. Accessible areas are
\navailable for the planting, which may be more suitable for younger
\nvolunteers.&nbsp; </p>
\n<p>Dress for the weather and bring your own water.</p>
