Search for nature&rsquo;s treasures as we follow maps, make\nmini-rafts, investigate wildlife, and step into creeks and marshes. Discover\nStory County natural areas through hands-on activities, art, stories, games,\nand journaling.&nbsp;We may visit the following areas (locations may change\ndepending on water levels): </p>\n<p>McFarland\nPark: Pond, prairie, forest, and\ncreek&mdash;we&rsquo;ll experience several habitats and the bugs, birds, and other\ncreatures that live there. </p>\n<p>\nCooper&rsquo;s\nPrairie Marsh:&nbsp; This restored marsh adventure is a natural\n"jungle" of cattails, sedges, rushes, muskrats, yellow-headed\nblackbirds, and dragonflies.\n</p>\n<p>\nMcFarland\nCreek: We&rsquo;ll flip rocks in the\nriffles and shallows of the creek and search for crawdads, water striders, and\nnatural clay.\n&nbsp;\n**Expect that your child will\nbe VERY wet or dirty when you pick them up (including Monday)**\n</p>\n<p>REMINDERS:\nWear long\npants and closed-toe shoes (no flip flops) that can get wet and dirty\nand are comfortable for walking. Hats are recommended.\nBring\na full water bottle and a snack in a small backpack.\nStory\nCounty Conservation staff will not apply bug spray or sun block. Please\napply before arrival.\nIf your child needs a booster seat while\ntraveling in the 15 passenger van, please label it and leave it with the\nnaturalists on any days we\nwill be traveling off site.\n&nbsp;\n&nbsp;</p>\n<p><strong>No refunds are available for cancellations.</strong>&nbsp;If needed,&nbsp;<em>Nature Connect,</em> our service assistance program, provides a discount towards the cost of SCC camping, educational programs, and more.
