Join us to learn\nfrom Drake University&rsquo;s Professor Dr. Thomas Rosburg as he guides a walking\ntour of the Shagbark Hills, near Correctionville, Iowa. This event will be\noutdoors, and attendees are encouraged to dress appropriately for the weather. The Shagbark Hills was acquired in 1976 for\nwildlife habitat. The area contains a native stand of Shagbark Hickory trees\nunique to the area. The undeveloped 379-acre area is located one-half mile\nsouth of Correctionville and is open for hiking and public hunting. This is\nlocated within the Little Sioux River Corridor and includes a 50 percent timber\nand 50 percent upland habitat. </p>\n<p>Thomas Rosburg is a professor of ecology\nand botany at Drake University. He has served as president of the Iowa Academy\nof Science and as a member of the board of directors for the Iowa Chapter of\nthe Nature Conservancy. Winner of the Sierra Club Environmental Educator Award,\nthe Prairie Advocate Award, the Governor&rsquo;s Iowa Environmental Excellence Award,\nand many other distinctions, he is also the photographer for many University of\nIowa Press publications, including Trees in Your Pocket (2012) and\nWildflowers of the Tallgrass Prairie (2010), He has published over 360 images\nin a wide range of books, magazines, calendars, and brochures, including National\nGeographic, Sierra, The Iowan, and The American Journal of\nBotany. </p>\n<p>Learn\nmore about Inkpaduta Trail events at Upcoming Events &mdash; Inkpaduta Canoe\nTrail - https://www.inkpadutacanoetrail.org/events</p>
