DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=BASE64:This course will cover a variety of topics related to Iowa&rsquo;s natural resources and environmental health. Participants will acquire tools that will help them lead a life that contributes to sustainability. Those who attend the series are eligible to become certified as Master Conservationists through Iowa State University Extension. &nbsp; To become a Master Conservationist you need to: <br />\n&bull; Have an interest in conservation and environmental issues <br />\n&bull; Attend hands-on training sessions<br />\n&bull; Provide 32 hours of volunteer efforts<br />\n&bull; Have a willingness to learn and share ideas&nbsp;&nbsp; <br />\nCourse topics will include Iowa&rsquo;s physical environment, ecological principles and techniques, wildlife diversity, woodlands, prairies, wetlands, sustainable agriculture and land use, energy and waste reduction, and water quality.&nbsp;&nbsp; <br />\nThe course will be held on seven consecutive Tuesday nights, April 3 - May 15 from 6:00 - 9:30 p.m. and May 19 from 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Classes will be held in various locations including the Jester Park Lodge, Chichaqua Bottoms Greenbelt, and Des Moines Water Works. &nbsp; The Master Conservationist program is limited to 30 participants. The registration fee is $70. Registration deadline is March 27.<br />\nNo refunds will be given after the registration deadline, unless PCC needs to cancel or your spot can be filled by someone on our waiting list.
